Quiz Nights

Radis Community Care is to hold a weekly quiz night throughout October, raising money for the Care Professional Benevolent Fund and MacMillan Nurses.
Starting next Wednesday and then held every Wednesday in October after that, The Smithfield Bell will host the quiz nights from 9pm with the winning team collecting eight pints donated by the pub. Entry is £1 per person.

80s DISCO

TIME TO TURN BACK THE CLOCK AND RELIVE THE SOUNDS OF THE 1980s

Maes Y Dre School invite you to take a step back in time at a 1980s Disco at the Royal Oak Hotel Welshpool on Saturday 28th September.

Tickets are only £5 each, and apart from great sounds you will be able to see your favourite stars of the 80s on the big screen as you dance to them.

KILL CANCER STAR GUEST

Organisers of a day-long event to raise funds for local cancer groups have secured a performance from iconic 1980’s rocker, Kirk Brandon .
Let’s Kill Cancer Welshpool are organising a 5k fun run/walk around the town on 3rd August, Starting and finishing at the Westwood Park Hotel where Spear of Destiny lead singer, Kirk Brandon (see photo), will headline a gig afterwards as part of his British Tour. Money raised on the day will be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Spear of Destiny were a huge festival band back in the 1980s and enjoyed success in both the singles and albums charts.
The £5 entry fee will entitle participants to a bottle of water for the run, a burger/vegetarian burger, fries and soft drink afterwards, and entry to the acoustic show in the evening.
As an added bonus, The London Hilton on Park Lane has also donated an afternoon tea for two for the person who raises the most amount of sponsorship money.
To receive a registration form, email letskillcancerwelshpool@gmail.com and one will be forwarded. Alternatively the forms can be collected from The Westwood, Town Council Offices or the Tourist Information Centre.
Also on the concert bill is Folk Grinder, a London-based sea shanty band, with more acts to be added.

HEALTH EVENT

On Friday 19th July Health Focus is holding a Health Information day at the Corn Exchange. This is a free event for members of the community to come along and meet private Health Care professionals in their area. you will have a chance to talk to therapist such as Hypnotherapist, Nutritionist, and The Health intervention team from the Flash Leisure centre, Podiatrist and many more

The event starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.

There will be dance & Tai chi demonstrations, free blood pressure checks and other tasters during the day.

WLLR TOWN TRAIL

Your help is needed to create a Town Trail along the route of the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway as it once passed through Welshpool town centre.

The trail will comprise of murals, information panels and much more. Your help in bringing this important piece of the town's history into the modern world would be very much appreciated.
