Spirit Of The Blitz Town Hall Friday 30th September, 2pm, Doors open 1.30pm.

Celebrating the best of British wartime entertainment as part of Welshpool 1940s weekend
A tribute to the legendary stars who kept us smiling through our darkest days, Spirit of the Blitz recaptures the patriotic optimism of war-torn Britain.
Sing along to swinging hits like Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree, Bless 'Em All, Leaning On A Lamp-Post, and of course, We'll Meet Again.
Starring Andy Eastwood, Maggie O’Hara and Pete Lindup, this feel-good show recreates all your forties favourites, including Vera Lynn, George Formby, Max Miller, Bing Crosby, Anne Shelton and Gracie Fields... A truly heart-warming afternoon of live music and laughter.
For those who remember the war years, Spirit Of The Blitz is a trip down memory lane; for those who don't, it’s a Sentimental Journey back through time to the glorious melodies and good clean comedy that accompanied the nation's 'finest hour'.

Tickets £8, Concessions £6 available from Welshpool Jewellers or Theatre Hafren Box Office 01686 614555 or on line at www.thehafren.co.uk

Miltary Wives Concert

Shawbury Military Wives Choir were formed in February 2012 and is part of the Military Wives Choir Foundation. The MWCF currently has 75 choirs spread across the world and Shawbury currently has approximately 27 members.
No auditions or requirement to read music is necessary, just a willingness to have a go and enjoy.
We have been honoured to have had some wonderful events over the last 4 years. In 2013 we were chosen as one of 7 choirs to be the support act for Sir Cliff Richard. We have sang the National Anthem at The Grand National in 2014 and performed at the Anglican Cathedral Liverpool in aid of SSAFA in the same year. More recently the Military Wives Choir Foundation have supported Lulu on her most recent tour which involved 43 choirs at 35 venues across the country and Shawbury joined Cosford MWC at Theatre Severn in March. We were also thrilled to perform alongside Blake in Market Drayton on their ‘Stage and Screen’ tour in June. These are just a small selection of some of the exciting opportunities we have had together over the years with many, many other wonderful local and national events but it is much more than just the events.
The choir primarily offers friendship, support and a sense of belonging. A real chance to have some 'me' time. The ladies know that should they need any of us, we would be there for them.

See the choir perform with their guest artistes at the Methodist Church Welshpool on Sunday 2nd October at 7.30pm doors open 7pm.
Tickets £6 available from Welshpool Jewellers or Theatre Hafren Box Office 01686 614555 or on line at www.thehafren.co.uk
